Owning your home through color.Have you ever moved into a house and it just did not feel like your own until you painted?
When a child sibling moves into another family members bedroom one of best ways to feel ownership is through painting the room with a different color.
The transformation into a new room or entire home can be overwhelming with many expenses that prohibit you from painting everything all at once. Make sure you paint enough that you feel the new house becomes place your home.
The front door. Probably the most important areas and one of the smallest is the front door. Usually the past owner has left their mark on the front door. For example the previous owners favorite color is green, so the door is green. You wonder why they selected green since it does not go with the brick – yet your realtor helped you to look past the front door since you could change the color once you moved in and got settled. Well now that you are settled you have moved onto more important things. Remember the front door is a relatively inexpensive way to make your mark on your home.
The family room kitchen area. Lets face it – this is where you live. One of the main areas where you and your family live. This is another area where it can be a very cost effective way to make your new home feel like your’s. Most family room kitchen areas take very little paint compared to a large bedroom.
The master bath room. This a place you spend your first part of each day. Help yourself get the day off to a good start. Once again this area will usually take very little paint. The color selection in this area is very important since there may be limited windows or natural light. Your color for the master bath may be a lighter shade of the master or a complimentary color found in the bedding, pillows, or window coverings.
In summary. You may be able to lay claim to your home with out having to paint the entire home. Consider what areas you spend the most time in and what ares stand out as a remind of the past. Save some money by being selective. You can complete the project in steps.
Your home is yours, now own it through color!
